Harbourview Family Health Team (HFHT) is a well-established primary care team based in Thunder Bay, dedicated to delivering high-quality, team-based care to our patients and their families. Our interdisciplinary team includes nurse practitioners (NP), registered nurses, registered dietitians, registered practical nurses, social workers, administrative professionals, and 14 family physicians.
HFHT is currently in an exciting phase of growth and transition. As we expand and evolve to better meet the needs of our community, we are focused on strengthening our collaborative care model, enhancing patient access, and supporting innovation in primary care delivery.

Job Summary
We are seeking a creative and motivated social media intern to join our team for the summer through the Canada Summer Jobs program. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in gaining hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, social media management, and learning about a team-based primary care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, creating, and scheduling engaging content across social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn)
- Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage with followers in a professional manner
- Research trends, hashtags, and competitor content to support social media strategy
- Support the execution of social media campaigns and promotions
- Help maintain and update the content calendar to ensure consistent posting
- Track and report on social media performance metrics (engagement, reach, growth)
- Assist with basic graphic design, photography, or video editing as needed
- Collaborate with team members on marketing initiatives and creative ideas. Active participation in quality improvement initiatives related to workflow design, efficiency, and effectiveness
- Contribute to a positive team environment
- Ensure confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion when handling sensitive client and personnel information
- Follow all organizational policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment
- Attend required training sessions and comply with all health and safety standards, including WHMIS
Work Environment
The position is in-person and works in close partnership with our administrative team, including the executive director, clinical program manager, finance and operations manager, and IT specialist. There will also be opportunities to learn about day-to-day operations at our clinic, and meet and work with our clinical team.
Qualifications
Must meet eligibility requirements for the Canada Summer Jobs program:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field (preferred)
- Strong interest in social media and digital marketing
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and trends
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset
- Organized, creative, and able to work independently and in a team environment
